About the author
Ron began writing at an early age. At age eight he was writing stories and by the age of ten, he was learning guitar. He listened to early 45’s endlessly and music became part of his life. Self-taught, guitar became a passion. Later described by industry professionals as a “world class guitar player,” he excelled as an award winning songwriter too.
In recent years, Ron has published three novels (so far) with the help of his wife, Kathy. A fair enough grammarian, she became instrumental in helping him publish his first two books: Child of the Heart and more recently, Finding Wendy and The Maple Grove.
All three books have been well received, and have proven to be a fun read. Ron’s first book, Child of the Heart, is a fascinating prosaic study based on his own struggle with anxiety disorder. He personified the symptoms into characters in a kind of dreamscape setting. Interesting, funny, and sometimes scary like when Rage is chasing his characters down a disappearing roadway! In Finding Wendy, we discover true love set in the ‘70’s. Before PC’s and cell phones became an everyday part of our lives. Autobiographical in tone, it includes true stories like the one in shop class where the teacher has a hard time pronouncing potato. Instead, it comes out “Badado.” You’ll have to read the full account in Finding Wendy and enjoy a good laugh. Generally, the story involves a young man in his teens experiencing the angst of lost love and the sometimes unfair nature of life.
The Maple Grove just might be the most creative and imaginative work of all. A time of stress and early20th century history, it chronicles the life of a young woman of mixed race surviving the Jim Crow South to become a world renowned nature photographer. She grows up in rural South in a big house with a back yard which includes a large stand of maple trees. Somehow our protagonist can hear the thoughts of the trees while she grows up spending time with them. She comes to think of them as friends and the trees grow close to her as well.
